The GREENWIN LLC team took part in the 31st Annual European Tyre Recycling Conference, organised by ETRA under the theme “Tyre Recycling: is the Future Circular?”. Over three days, more than 120 representatives from the public and private sectors discussed the key trends, challenges, and prospects for the development of the tyre recycling industry in Europe.
As part of the conference, GREENWIN delivered a presentation entitled “What changed since last ETRA”, in which the company shared its latest R&D results as well as strategic updates on its development.
During the conference, GREENWIN highlighted its most recent achievements in improving the quality of pyrolysis products, particularly dry char and TPO (Tyre Pyrolysis Oil) fractions. The company presented the results of its work on increasing the stability and controllability of output products, confirming its progress towards higher-quality and more market-relevant solutions.
Special attention was also given to the next steps toward obtaining recovered carbon black (rCB). GREENWIN shared its vision for the further processing of dry char as an intermediate product and for the development of a technological pathway leading to recovered carbon black as a higher-value material output.
The company also emphasized its active role in supporting the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulation in Ukraine. During the presentation, GREENWIN clearly outlined the development of this regulatory direction, its importance for the tyre recycling sector, and the need to create a more systematic framework for the collection, recycling, and reuse of tyres.
Following packaging, the next waste stream expected to undergo sectoral implementation is EPR for tyres. Under the Waste Management Law of Ukraine (2022), tyres are included among the waste streams for which an extended producer responsibility mechanism is to be introduced. The regulatory framework is still under development. At present, Ukraine recycles only around 27% of end-of-life tyres, whereas in EU countries the relevant target levels reach 75–90%.
It was also stressed that the European Union has launched a large-scale technical assistance project under the Ukraine Facility to support the implementation of the Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan.
In addition, the company presented its participation in FutureProofTextiles, a Eurocluster Initiative aimed at supporting the digital and green transformation of SMEs in the textile industry. Under this initiative, a grant call for enterprises active in industrial textile recycling will be launched soon. In total, 40 selected SMEs will receive €50,000 each to implement innovative solutions.
Networking and new professional contacts
Participation in the conference became an important platform for GREENWIN not only to present its own progress, but also to expand professional contacts and strengthen the company’s international positioning.
Among the key contacts established or reinforced during the event were:
Circular Rubber Platform (Netherlands) — an international platform bringing together more than 120 organisations involved in advancing the circular economy of rubber, recycling, and the sustainable use of rubber-based materials.
Tyre & Rubber Recycling — a leading industry publication covering tyre recycling.
The Tyre Recycling Podcast — one of the sector’s specialist media platforms.
NOVAC SRL (Italy) — an innovative company developing mouldable solid-state supercapacitors based on carbon fibre (Fibercap), which showcased its developments at the conference exhibition stand.
FutureProofTextiles — a Eurocluster Initiative supporting the digital and green transition of SMEs in the textile sector.
The keynote speech of the conference was delivered by Dr. Román Arjona, Chief Economist at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), on the topic “Headwinds and springboards for EU industry.”
Summary
Participation in ETRA 2026 marked an important step for GREENWIN in strengthening its international presence, presenting its technological progress, and becoming part of the broader European dialogue on the future of the tyre recycling industry. The conference confirmed that the development of a circular tyre economy increasingly depends on technology, product quality, the regulatory environment, partnerships, and the sector’s readiness to work in a more systemic way.
